MaW’s NaNoWriMo

2006

For my fourth NaNoWriMo I'm working on a story tentatively titled The Stars Have No Voices, which admittedly sounds a little pretentious, but sort of fits what I'm trying to do. I do of course reserve the right to change it later, and perhaps I shouldn't even be thinking about titles yet, but it's helpful to have something to call the thing while I'm working on it. Having a title also makes my NaNoWriMo author profile page look nicer.

The setting is a revised version of the setting for last year's novel, and they don't both fit into the same continuity. In fact, there are actually alternate versions of a few of last year's main characters in this one, so don't even think about trying to figure out what's going on with their lives. They're different people, they just happen to be very similar and have the same names.

2005

NaNoWriMo 2005 Winner Icon This year my novel is entitled Weaver's Revelation. Set in a 'science fantasy' universe where high technology rubs shoulders with a subtle but powerful form of magic, it follows the travels of Taewyn, the Worldweaver Prime, as he sets out to find a way to avenge the murder of his wife. On the way, however, he discovers that there is a great deal more at stake, and the fate of the universe and the balance of power in the galaxy are both under threat.

You can read the entirely unedited version in either HTML (all on one big page) or PDF (for which you'll need a PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat or Evince). The perspective shifts from first to third-person at the start of chapter three. The part structure is entirely incorrect, and no editing of any sort has taken place. Also, the story doesn't really finish.

I would correct these issues, but I'm working on a new story which incorporates some elements of this one into it.

NaNoWriMo 2004 Winner Icon Last year I wrote a story called The Narrowing Gaps In This. It's pretty dreadful — from the title onwards — but if you really want to read it, you can find it on this site.

It was easier to reach 50,000 words for my second year. Probably because I didn't finish the novel hating it and every character in it like I did in 2003.

You can read the novel online here (HTML, all in one big page).

Don't even ask. Don't even think about asking. I won, but nobody will ever see it.
